It would happen to be so that tomorrow, October 24th, I’ll be formally requesting accommodations from my healthcare provider. Without them, my autistic/ADHD mental health has been in decline. Based on observations, I conclude that I’m not the only one either.

With them, I could be the first of many to thrive and finally attain our economic integration. However, I am advocating to one of the largest and most innovative care providers in the United States. I face an uphill battle and no one to guide me. Least of all, legally.

Four accommodations that focus on occupational needs that cover the following:

• Hiring process accommodations.
• Work history accommodations for late/undiagnosed.
• Priority accommodation for the unemployed.
• Connecting us to our monotropic occupational interests, conditionally, regardless of qualifications, or a new position must be created.

Revolutionary? I honestly don’t know. This isn’t for notoriety. I need these to thrive at age 42 after it took me seven years to figure out everything, and four years after I was lucky to be diagnosed as autistic based on a hunch. I need these. We need these.

But who do I turn to for help getting the accommodations where they need to be? I do not know.. But I suspect help I will soon need.
