*starts listening to Jerry Goldsmith’s End Credits from Star Trek First Contact (after having started Picard Season 3)*
Believe it or not, you actually triggered sensory overload. In a good way, because you humbly, honestly, and urgently addressed perhaps the single most pressing problem I’ve seen next to autism accommodations:
Divisiveness.
How serious of an issue is it? Simple. Let my actions speak for themselves. I stopped replying, dropped what I was doing, went and got dressed, shaved, and styled my hair to expend the energy I suddenly felt, grabbed some Twizzlers Bites, a swig of diet green tea for good measure, and then sat back down.
Serious.
Very serious.
It undermines everything in daily life, especially American politics (I’m from the US). Intentionally. Before I advocated for autism, I had already honed and trusted my pattern recognition. Elements involved with our government were intentionally dividing the American people.
In every which way imaginable and possible. Every. Way. Imaginable. The reason is simple. Divide and conquer. It’s nothing new. Especially to altruists like myself who have found ourselves persecuted by it.
As I stim-listen to Jerry Goldsmith’s timeless Star Trek theme, I am reminded of the reason why I decided to speak out against this dividing force. Actual unity. Actual cooperation. Actual progress. Not facsimiles and constant conflict as they drive down our throats every day.
I say unto you, Divergent Shift, if you see this division too in so many aspects of global daily life, May we combine our voices and share our journeys? May we cooperate when cooperation should be made. May we agree where agreement is needed.
May we unify to oppose division in the mantra of what Gene Roddenberry once envisioned? Together. Because I’m going to read the rest of this article after I share my divisiveness article:
